"LINED BASE HIT! NO, HARRIS CAUGHT IT TO END IT!"-Gary Cohen, Mets Broadcaster
2-out, 9th inning. Rod Barajas with the sacks full. Matt Capps trying for the save with a 4-3 lead. 1-2 count. Lined to left. Easy hit to notch it at 4, right? Not exactly. Willie Harris dives and just gets it in the glove to end the ballgame.

.....to add on to the last post, NOW SOME PITCHING
I've got to give the props to Big Pelf. He pitched pretty, pretty (and did I mention pretty) well. By the way, I'm watching the game and the Mets are really in business. They just scored a run on a Cora hit and a Wright RBI infield hit on a boot by a certain Ian Desmond. Oh, and Ruben Tejada got his first MLB hit. Pelf didn't let Josh Willingham score after doubling to start the 6th and struck out 5 and walked 4 in 6 innings while throwing 94 pitches. He only gave up 2 runs on that Ian Desmond's 2-run triple and Pelf is now 1 win and 0 losses!

What the heck? Home run derby...IN CITI FIELD??!!!
In the biggest ballpark in the history of the world, and the least home run friendly one at that, it's been home run derby tonight at Citi Field. With two homers for Frenchie and two for Roddy, not to mention an absolute crusher for Wright that stayed in the park because of 30 mph winds, the Mets now lead the Nats 6-2 in the eighth.

Ruben, Ruben, and well, kind of less Ruben
Ruben Tejada, the Panamanian shortstop prospect (or maybe we should call him Rookie now that he is in the majors) is 0 for 2 in his first two games in the majors. A little background: he hit .289 in double A last year and got the most hits of any Met in spring training. Should we get our hopes up? Do we dare to hope? Jose Reyes's thyroid says otherwise. Jose should be back by the end of next week and let's hope he's "up to speed" quickly (pun intended).

THE GREATEST OPENING DAY I HAVE EVER SEEN!(maybe 'cause i haven't seen any others)
Don't let the title of this post fool ya. I actually have never seen an opening day game, not even on the telly (don't I sound cute?). Well, my mets have won their 5th in a row. Not consecutive games, mind you, but consecutive season openers. 32 for the last 41 openers for the NYM. Mr Wright homered in his first AB. Jay-Bay tripled and singled. Final score? 7-1, Johan big W.......BOOOYAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
