Who to root for: SF or Philly?
Wow, what a choice! Gut emotion? no brainer - we hate Philly. But wait a minute - we're 9.5 games back of the Phillies in the NL East, but 5.5 games back of the Giants in the wild card standings. What to do, what to do?
Double duty day
The Mets are in the midst of the second game of a double header tonight against the Colorado Rockies. They took the first game 7-0, the second shut-out in a row with great pitching by Santana. First time they've had 2 back to back shut-outs in a whole year!

Weather report, rained out!
Santana and the Mets are rained out in Flushing tonight for what would hopefully have been their 3rd win against the Rockettes. Tomorrow will be a day/night doubleheader if the weather holds out. The make-up game is in the afternoon with Santana pitching. Weather report? pretty iffy - scattered thunderstorms. D-Backs vs Philly tonight - come on Arizonizzy shizzy!!!!!!!
Wild card - dare to hope?
With a sweep against Colorado in progress, we are actually "only" 5.5 games off the Wild Card! Should we dare to hope, or think of this 4 game winning streak as a fluke? Anyways, Santana up tonight - hope he does better than last time.

a weird little scientific fact about humidity
Don't know why I'm telling you this (see Sam's "nutzo" post a few days ago for an example of my brothers 9 year old boy sense of humor) but it's a scientific fact that no one else seems to know; in humid weather, balls travel further because heat rises. So should we thank the Mets or the weather for these home runs?
First 3 win streak since May!!!
and they win it in a "grand" fashion, featuring a pinch hit grand slam by Tatis. He showed hints of the old Tatis, erasing recent memories of the new double play hitting Tatis. Did you know that Tatis once hit two grand slams in a single inning?
The Grand Salami!!!!
FERNANDO TATIS, who I thought would ground into yet another double play, just hit a... yes feel it feel it... pinch hit, bases loaded, 0-2 count ... GRAAAAAND SLAAAAAM!!!!!!!! It looks like the Mets, it has Mets on their uniforms, the players look familiar, but their not playing like our usual Mets! Whatever, I LIKE IT!!!!!

Power explosion!!!
Last night the Mets whupped the Astros butts in an explosion of home runs and great hits. We won 10-3 and guess what? Niese pitched better than K-Rod, who gave up a 2 run homer in the ninth. The Mets had three home runs, a solo shot leading off the 4th by Omir Santos, a three run shot in the 6th by Francoeur, and a solo in the 8th by Wright. This was the second consecutive game with a homer by Santos, who seems to be waking up from his slump. I bet he'll be in the lineup tonight. Speaking of breaking out of slumps, I hope this is the end of David Wrights major slump. Will this be the beginning of a trend, or just another fluke? We'll just have to wait and see. Tune in this afternoon at 2PM!!!
