Another ALMOST comeback in the ninth
Pelfrey did his best, and didn't pitch badly, but he gave up two two run homers in the process. At the bottom of the ninth the score was 6-2 in favor of Washington, and the Mets came back to score 2. Murphy then came up to bat with a man on first and third and he hit a hard grounder to Desmond at short. Desmond made a brilliant stop but overthrew Dunn at first and Murphy went to second with an RBI to make it 6-5 Washington. Hope came alive at Citifield and the crowd came to its feet. But Francoeur hit a bullet to the pitcher, knocking off his glove, but he picked up the ball and threw the ball to first ending the game. Disappointing - again, to say the least.
